Exam nerves, competitions and public performance
How I can help
While there are undeniable benefits in feeling nervous and experiencing an adrenaline rush—which can enhance how an exam or competition is approached—you may also experience a complete breakdown: shaking, excessive yawning, a blank mind, or an inability to listen to instructions, among other symptoms. You may have encountered an exam scenario that did not go well. If this describes you, I would like to assure you that you are not alone.
I, being one of many, have experienced this level of nerves. I can remember, as a child, trying to place my trembling, sweaty hands on the keys of a piano while attempting to read a music score that looked like dots and dashes. I recall the examiner sitting across the room, tapping a pen impatiently. I ran out of the room in tears and self-resentment. This experience was less than positive. I have since learned how to manage these moments of blind panic and am able to share the techniques with you.
I understand that everyone views situations differently and that reactions differ from person to person. I adapt to your needs and will guide you towards managing your nerves and gaining confidence.
Importantly, mind therapy will not cause you to make irrational or dangerous decisions. The difference you may notice is feeling much less stress and having an increased level of self-confidence.
